Both of my children have always struggled at school, but in different ways. One has found reading particularly difficult, while the other has struggled with maths, they both find it difficult to concentrate and are easily distracted. Over the years, we’ve tried a number of different approaches, but always felt there was something missing.
The Alison Lawson assessment showed that both of my children had visual processing difficulties, which finally gave us an explanation that made sense. We decided to go ahead with the two-week Intensive Programme.
Although it’s still early days, we’ve already noticed some encouraging improvements. Reading is becoming easier for one child, while the other has shown improvements in maths, handwriting and concentration. Both children are becoming more confident in their learning. One child has achieved full eye alignment, while the other has made good progress and will continue with the exercises. There is still work to do with the reading challenges, but this is due to lack of phonetic knowledge and we feel there is now a much stronger foundation to build on with this. With this programme the full results can take up to 12 months to show so we are looking forward to seeing even more over the months to come too!
Deb was incredibly supportive throughout the programme and quickly understood each child’s individual needs. She adapted the sessions to suit them, knew how to motivate each of them, and was always available to answer questions or offer reassurance.
I would recommend this programme to parents whose children are struggling with dyslexia, concentration or learning difficulties. If your child has visual processing difficulties, this could be the missing piece of the puzzle. It has certainly been a worthwhile experience for our family.
